Job description

Applicants are invited for a 3 year position as Postdoctoral Fellow in Sleep research for the Horizon 2020 project “Sleep Revolution” sponsored by the European Commission to be based at the Department of Behavioural Medicine, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo.

The post-doctoral fellow will work in a multidisciplinary and international team with clinicians as well as with experts in medicine, health psychology, social sciences and computer science.

More about the position

The appointment is a fulltime position and is made for a period of up to three years.

The work will be connected to a research project of a digital treatment trial of myofunctional therapy for patients with sleep apnea. The candidate will be responsible for the Norwegian contribution to work package 7 of the Horizon 2020 project “Sleep Revolution” financed by EU and administered by researchers in Reykjavik University, Iceland.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.

The work will comprise:

  • Contribute to the development and support of a secure digital platform.
  • Provide support for the data collection for the project using this platform.
  • Perform research on data from several aspects of the intervention. These will include treatment adherence, patient-provider trust and a digital sleep diary with auto feedback.
  • The research will involve the development and support of a digital platform for clinical trials and handling of clinical data, as well as PROMS connected to an intervention that will be delivered on the new digital platform being developed for this project.
  • The goal is to create a platform, support a PhD student in data collection and handling of all administrative aspects of the intervention being tested.
  • The research will be carried out in the Department of Behavioural Medicine, UiO in close collaboration with the sleep research laboratory and otolaryngology department at Akershus University Hospital and Reykjavik University. The candidate is expected to collaborate closely with an extended inter-disciplinary team of researchers and clinicians.

Qualification requirements

  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree (PhD) in medicine, psychology, physiotherapy or nursing science. We are looking for a person with interest in sleep research, behavioural interventions and digital health. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defence of the doctoral thesis being approved.
  • Interest in or experience with creating, setting up and administer platforms for continuous evaluation and sampling of research data collected for research projects on digital interventions.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience with myofunctional therapy, physiotherapy or speech language pathology is an advantage, but not a requirement.
